Pros & Cons
Pros & Cons
- Weighing just 750 grams (size M, unpainted), this is one of the lightest gravel frames currently available.
- Thanks to tyre clearance up to 700x50C (29"x2.0"), you can fit wide gravel tyres on 650B as well as 700C wheels.
- The frame was wind tunnel tested at Silverstone to ensure optimal aerodynamics for noticeable gains at speed.
- When ordering this frame, you can complete it with a Kreuza Apex One-Piece handlebar (Race or Gravel) straight away.
- If you opt for a 2x drivetrain, electronic shifting is your only choice; there is no room for a mechanical front derailleur cable in the internal cable routing.

The Evolve Cima GR Sahara Nude is a lightweight carbon gravel frame for those who want to build their own fast gravel bike. You choose the wheels, drivetrain and brake components, and when selecting the frame size and cockpit configuration, you determine exactly what your bike will look like.
This frame is available in three versions: as a bare frame (frame, fork and seatpost), with the Kreuza Apex One-Piece cockpit for fast road cycling, or with the Kreuza Apex GR One-Piece cockpit, which is specially tuned for gravel riding. Can’t decide between the two cockpits? While the GR version has a much greater flare (14.6° compared to 6°) and offers better control on rough terrain, the race cockpit allows for a more streamlined, aerodynamic position on flat and fast gravel.
Would you rather buy a complete bike rather than build one yourself? Take a look at our range of gravel bikes.

TORAYCA T1100 & T800 M40 carbon lay-up
By combining different types of high-quality carbon, the frame is ultra-light (750 grams in size M, unpainted) without compromising on stiffness. You will really notice this when accelerating and climbing.
Wind tunnel optimised design
The frame has been tested in the Silverstone wind tunnel and optimised to minimise aerodynamic drag and, therefore, to require less effort to maintain speed.
Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH)
The frame features the UDH, which makes it widely compatible with modern (electronic) drivetrains. In the event of a fall, you can easily replace it yourself, quickly and cheaply, rather than having to have the whole frame checked.
Compatible with:
- Disc brakes, flat-mount mounting with 160 or 180 mm rotors at the front and 140 or 160 mm at the rear
- 650B and 700C wheels, with tyre clearance up to 700x50C / 29"x2.0"
- 12x100 mm thru-axle at the front and 12x142 mm at the rear
- BSA bottom bracket (threaded), 68 mm wide – fits most standard cranksets
- 1x drivetrains with mechanical or electronic shifting
- 2x drivetrains, only with electronic shifting – up to 48/31T (Shimano GRX), 50/34T (Shimano 12-speed) or 48/35T (SRAM Road)
- Saddle rails: 7x7, 7x9 or 7x10 mm
- Headtube: 28.6 mm (1 1/8"), the same size as that onto which the Kreuza Apex handlebars clamp
- 2x mechanical drivetrains – there isn’t enough space for cables to pass through the headset
- Tyres wider than 700x50C / 29"x2.0"
- CIMA GR frame and fork (Sahara Nude)
- Carbon seatpost with a 380 mm length and 10-degree offset
- Standard steel headset bearings
- UDH Direct Mount derailleur pad
- Internal Kreuza tool bag
- Optional: the Kreuza Apex One-Piece (race) or Kreuza Apex GR One-Piece (gravel) cockpit in the chosen length and width
- Gravel wheels
- Gravel tyres
- Groupset
- For the frame-only version: Gravel handlebars and stem
- Saddle
This is a frameset, around which you can build a complete bike yourself, or have it built for you. When fitting the headset, bottom bracket and drivetrain, it is best to have some experience with carbon and with a Torque wrench – applying the wrong torque to carbon can damage the frame and will invalidate your warranty.
- Always use a Torque wrench when tightening carbon components on this frame.
- Protect the underside of the frame from stone chips with frame protection.
- If you opt for two chainrings, check, before fitting your drivetrain, whether the groupset has electronic shifting.
Which frame size is right for my height with the Evolve Cima GR bike frame?
At Mantel, the Cima GR frame is available in sizes M, ML and L. Size M is for heights from 168 to 177 cm, ML for 175 to 184 cm, and L for 182 to 192 cm. If your height is between two sizes, also consider your preferred riding position – the ML size deliberately overlaps with both M and L.
Can I fit a mechanical groupset to the Evolve Cima GR bike frame?
Yes. If you opt for a 1x drivetrain, you can use either a mechanical or an electronic groupset. If you want to use two chainrings, however, an electronic groupset is the only option (Di2, AXS or EPS) because there is no space for a mechanical front derailleur cable in the frame’s internal cable routing.
Does the Evolve Cima GR Sahara Nude bike frame come with handlebars as standard?
That depends on the version you choose. You can order the frame on its own (without handlebars), with the Kreuza Apex One-Piece cockpit for a racing position, or with the Kreuza Apex GR One-Piece cockpit with extra flare for gravel. Both cockpits are available in multiple lengths and widths, without a separate headset spacer.
Which derailleur pad does the Evolve Cima GR bike frame have?
The frame has a Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), which we supply as standard. If it should get damaged in a fall, you can simply replace the hanger and may not need to take the whole frame / bike to a workshop.
Can I assemble the Evolve Cima GR bike frame myself?
With experience with carbon and a Torque wrench, it is possible, but with carbon frames, using the wrong torque can quickly cause problems, e.g. with warranty. If you are unsure, have the frame assembled by a professional bike mechanic. If you live in the Netherlands, you can make an appointment at one of our Mantel workshops.
